Welcome to St. Bede's!

About Our School

If you are new to us I hope this will be the start of a long and rewarding partnership. If you already know us, then welcome again.

St. Bede’s is a Catholic voluntary aided primary school, being part of The Diocese Of Portsmouth, maintained in partnership with Hampshire County Council. We cater for children aged 4+ to 11 years. At the end of Year 6 (age 11) the vast majority of our pupils move on to Bishop Challoner Secondary School in Basingstoke, with whom we have very strong links.

At St. Bede’s Catholic Primary School we strive to achieve excellence in all we do, based on the Gospel values of Jesus Christ. Our Mission Statement centres on Jesus’ new commandment to “Love one another as I have loved You” (John 15, Verse 12). This is central to our school. The education of your child will be much enhanced if we work together to reinforce and implement the aims of the school as set out in our Mission Statement.

As a Catholic School, the basic religious ethos is to be found across the whole curriculum and in all aspects of the life of the school. Celebration of our faith through prayer and worship is a key feature of the life of the school and, whenever possible, parents are encouraged to join us.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all governors, staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We believe that our school should provide a safe, caring, positive and stimulating environment that promotes the academic learning of all, alongside the spiritual, social, physical and moral development of the individual child.

St. Bede’s is heavily over-subscribed, but this has led to exciting times as the school has built a three classroom extension, having received permission to increase its intake number. The school has doubled in size over the last 5-6 years and now has over 400 children on roll.
