Curriculum

At St. Bede's we have successfully introduced varied and engaging schemes of work that reflect and incorporate the New Curriculum. We have a number of  new study areas and a revised emphasis. However, we have kept the variety and richness of what was best in our previous curriculum.

We  constantly review, develop, refine and improve our curriculum so that it addresses the needs and interests of our children; ensuring that it goes beyond the traditional academic curriculum provision. Our Mission Statement informed by Gospel Values and Jesus' Commandment to "Love One Another" (John 15, Verse 12)  is always at the heart of all we do. We  ensure a focus on the personal development of the pupils with an emphasis on Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural aspects and Personal and Social Health Education, helping pupils to know the difference between right and wrong.

We want our curriculum to develop our children as young citizens, who help others within our community whilst achieving the highest possible personal achievements and academic outcomes.

Our teaching at St. Bede's is carried out through a broad and rich curriculum that gives the opportunity for all to succeed and fulfill their potential.

We continue to value the opportunity to promote skills in areas such as sports, music, the arts and drama, as well as embracing the more traditional academic aspects of the curricululm.

We seek opportunities to enhance children's learning through educational visits and through visitors coming in to school.

We look for opportunities to use new technologies.

We continue to evaluate and develop our curriculum for the good of all.

More detailed information on what is taught at St. Bede's can be found below by year group. If you would like further information or hard copies of the curriculum maps for each class then please do not hesitate to contact the school office or alternatively your child's class teacher.
