Music

We are fortunate in having a musician amongst our teaching staff. This enables us to provide specialist music teaching to our children in Juniors, as well as to have an Orchestra Club.

We subscribe to Hampshire Music Service’s Listen 2 Me Programme, which enables a class to try different instruments on a termly basis.

For individuals and groups there is peripatetic music tuition. Instruments learnt include the clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and guitar.

We take part in music activities beyond school. For example, our Year 5 children participated recently in the Peace Vigil at Winchester Cathedral and in the Mayor’s Concert.

Each year children from St. Bede’s take an active role in the Basingstoke Schools’ Concert at the Anvil Theatre.

We play regularly at our celebrations in Church and in school.

Our choir sings in local homes for the eldely and at events hosted by a number of charitable organisations.

In addition the choir is becoming a regular feature at the annual Diocesan education day, performing to large numbers of headteachers, governors and dignatories from across our Diocese.
