Vanessa Rolf visited school to complete the climate art project with the children in key stage two and discussed about the value of our world and its resources.
The children created patchwork quilts, alongside textile artist Vanessa Rolf.
The aim is for the artwork to be exhibited at the Willis Museum, alongside other artworks created by students from other Basingstoke schools. Each school has chosen a different aspect of the climate crisis to explore.
Artist Kev Munday visited year 3. The artist gathered ideas from the children to use for inspiration for the mural he and other artists are going to design, based on the theme of Basingstoke.
Kev Munday started by showing us the mural he painted in Camberley last year which features lots of local landmarks and points of interest. Next, we drew our own ideas of buildings, attractions, people, animals etc. based on Basingstoke. Lastly, we could draw our favourite drawing from the day onto the canvas with paint pens, so that we finished with one large collaborative artwork.
